Today goes into effect the Trans-Pacific Partnership Agreement (TPP) signed in 2016 by 12 countries that included the United States but pulled out as soon as President Trump took office. The original signers were Australia, Brunei, Canada, Chile, Japan, Malaysia, Mexico, New Zeland, Perú, Singapore, Vietnam, and the United States.
With United States withdrawal, 11 countries will start this critical trade deal today, but unfortunately, American companies interested in participating will remain subject to tariffs with these countries.
How profoundly this withdrawal will affect American companies dealing internationally with grapes, almonds or pork meat, for example, is something that remains to be seen.
